To help keep your pets safe, you must register your cat or dog with us once they are 3 months old and renew this registration by 10 April every year.

There are limits to the number of animals you can keep on your property. If you exceed these limits, you must apply for a multiple animal permit.

Pet registration information

Pet registrations run from 10 April in each year and must be renewed annually.

Free first-year pet registration

Eligible cat and dog owners can register their pet for free in the first year with the City of Greater Geelong.

Cat containment commitment

Cat owners can receive at least 50 per cent discount on their registration by committing to keep their cats contained indoors or in a secure enclosure. Learn how the program works and why containment helps protect cats, wildlife and the community.
