St Leonards Streetscape Beautification works - Murradoc Road shopping area

This engagement is open

Date: Monday, 4 November 2019 to Monday, 16 December 2019

The City proposes to upgrade the streetscape in the St Leonards Murradoc Road shopping area in 2020.

The works will improve safety, accessibility and amenity of the trading precinct for all members of the community.

We would like to hear your views on what is proposed via online, community drop in sessions. The City will keep you informed, listen and acknowledge concerns and aspirations, and provide feedback on how your ideas have been able to influence the final design or not.

Community Consultation Drop in Sessions

10.00am – 12noon - Memorial Hall, 1342 Murradoc Road, St Leonards

Thursday 28 November
5.30pm – 7.30pm Community Centre, 3/1377 Murradoc Road (corner Blanche Street, St Leonards

Streetscape and beautification works will include but are not limited to; drainage improvements, street furniture, garden beds, bike racks, information sign/noticeboard, town welcome sign, toilet area clean up and street art and pedestrian crossing improvements. This project will also promote sustainable water use and assist the local economy by making the precinct a more inviting place to spend time and shop.

Over the past six months consultation has been conducted for a mural on the St Leonards Murradoc Road toilet. The final design has been chosen and will be painted over the next four weeks.

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) in partnership with the City will be relocating the existing bus stop from outside the St Leonards Hotel. The bus stop relocation to west of Blanche Street has been incorporated into the overall streetscape design but is subject to final agreement by PTV.

The Federal Government has committed $70,000 for CCTV in Murradoc Road, St Leonards and will be delivered once an agreement has been signed with the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The CCTV cameras have also been incorporated into the overall design.

The Federal Government has committed $430,000 towards a foreshore pavilion in St Leonards. This project is subject to further scoping to determine what is achievable within the budget available.

Please submit your feedback by close of consultation on Monday 16 December 2019.

A summary of feedback will be provided in February 2020.
