Geelong's BIG Play Day Participant Survey

This engagement is complete

Date: Monday, 18 March 2019 to Friday, 29 March 2019

A survey of participants at Geelong's BIG Play Day at GMHBA Stadium during 2019 National Playgroup Week celebrations.

Through the survey, we want to know why the event is important to families and the community and how to develop and possibly make improvements to upcoming events and activities for children and families.

Key findings

In March 2018, the community was surveyed about their experience at Geelong’s BIG Play  2019.
Participants were invited to share some demographic data with us through an online survey. The responders were mostly women, with the highest participant group aged 25-34.
There appeared to be a good spread of attendance throughout the municipality with the largest representation from Grovedale (13%) followed by Lara (11%) Corio and Belmont (9%) and Newcomb (6%).
The participants survey demonstrated the effectiveness of the online campaign with 85.7% of respondents finding out about the Geelong’s BIG Play Day by social media.

Responses showed that participants had good links with early year’s services – including
MCH 54.3%
Long Day Care 41.4%
Playgroup 37.1%
Kindergarten 32.9%
Toy Library 14%
Family Day Care 10.0%
