VicRoads has advised that the Queens Park bridge is now open to cars and SUVs.
Following the completion of initial stabilisation works last Thursday, structural engineers from Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) have completed technical work so the bridge could be safely reopened to light vehicles.
Traffic controllers will be onsite 24/7 on both approaches to the bridge to control traffic flow and to ensure only appropriate passenger vehicles are able to cross.
Cars, SUVs (up to the size of a Toyota Landcruiser) and small vans can now use the bridge.
This interim arrangement will be in place while RRV continues to plan for future repair work on the bridge.
The timeline for this work is still being finalised, however it is expected there will be a planned closure of the bridge, during school holidays, to allow these repairs to take place.
