Geelong Mayor Bruce Harwood:
The floating tree was very popular with the community again this Christmas, with strong crowds, helped by favourable weather.
Anecdotally, this included a lot of visitors from out of town.
Overall, there was a great vibe around the city, with the Central Geelong Christmas Trail offering 30 different activities. The morning teas with Santa were a highlight; they were booked out, and saw more than 1000 kids participating across the 13 morning teas. The Reindeer academy, which gave children a chance to ride on mechanical reindeers, was also a big hit.
We look forward to the floating tree’s return for Christmas 2019.
