Dogs on beaches

Thursday, 27 December 2018

It’s important to choose the right location to exercise your four-legged friends this summer to avoid damaging the environment, harming wildlife or getting a fine.

Many of our beaches have different dog regulations, so remember to read the signs, especially during the peak summer period. Dogs might be prohibited from some beaches, or might need to be on-leash at all times at others.

New dog control measures have been established to benefit our whole community. We ask that dog owners abide by these regulations to ensure our outdoor spaces are safe and enjoyable for everyone.

City officers will continue regular patrolling of beaches. To learn more about where you can exercise your dog on and off-leash, and to see which beaches are
dog friendly, visit geelongaustralia.com.au/pets or download our Park Your Pet app. It’s free and you can download it from the App store and Google Play.
