Notification of proposal to upgrade mobile phone base stations located at Cnr Gheringhap & Myers Sts GEELONG VIC 3220 Lot 1 TP159608

Vodafone is proposing to upgrade an existing mobile network facility (base station) at Rydges Hotel Geelong (formerly Mercure Hotel).

The upgrade will use L850 technology, to ensure quality continuous coverage in the City of Greater Geelong area. The proposed works involve the installation of new technology within the existing Equipment Shelter at the facility.

The proposed upgrade is deemed to be a Low Impact Facility under federal legislation [Telecommunications (Low-impact Facilities) Determination 2018] and does not require development approval.

This is an upgrade to an existing mobile phone tower infrastructure on private land. Under the Telecommunications Act, the City cannot interfere with such upgrades unless the project impacts on our infrastructure. Upgrades to mobile infrastructure are managed by the operator.
