Upcoming special meeting of Council

Council call special meetings to enable it to discuss and decide upon specific matters.

Special meetings are open to the public unless closed by a council resolution to deal with confidential matters.

At this meeting the councillors will hold an election of the mayor and deputy mayor. This is in line with the City of Greater Geelong Act 1993, which states that a mayoral election must be held every two years.

The positions will be elected in the open chamber by a vote of councillors.

The mayor and deputy mayor elected at this meeting will serve until the next council elections on 24 October 2020.

The meeting is open to the public.
