The Victorian Teachers’ Games (VTG) is an annual event for education professionals, held in the first week of the September school holidays.
Participants have the opportunity to compete in over 40 sporting and social activities with almost 80 competition categories spread over four days and four nights of competition.
While the primary focus for the event is on sporting competition, the Games also has a social and educational component.
VTG is seen as a great way to extend what we do in schools to educate Victoria’s teachers of the value of sport competition, participation and the role being active plays in overall health and wellbeing.
VTG also provides significant professional development and team building opportunities for whole staff and individual teachers.
Geelong has won the
right to host the Victorian Teachers Games for the next two years, in a
homecoming to the event’s original location.
Up to 3,000 teachers from around the state will descend on the Geelong region
for the 24th edition of the games from 22 to 25 September 2019.
Given access to beaches, the bay and river, we expect some exciting water based events will be on the program in 2019!
The Games also return to Geelong in 2020!
This event is proudly supported by the City of Greater Geelong via Geelong Major Events funding.
