Opening Night - Christmas in Geelong

You are invited to enjoy the spectacular show as we kick off our Christmas celebrations and light Geelong's Floating Christmas Tree.

Feature event

Head to the Waterfront to be entertained with a special one-night only event. Show starts at 7:00pm. Performers will be announced shortly. This will be an early evening event, culminating is a short fireworks presentation and the lighting of our floating Christmas tree at 9:00pm.

We are also turning on the Christmas projections at City Hall on this night. So after you have seen the tree, wander up to City Hall to marvel at this year's festive projections from 9:30pm.

Floating Christmas Tree light show

Following opening night, the Floating Christmas Tree light show will be staged each night from 8.30pm until midnight. Approx 6 minute shows every 15 minutes.

This is the sixth installation of Geelong’s Floating Christmas Tree!

For Christmas in Geelong 2019, there will be three different shows to experience.

Make sure you visit the Waterfront to see them all. Each has a different light show and music production worth catching!

The last night to see the Floating Christmas Tree is 7 Jan (to align with Orthodox Christmas).

Christmas is a magical time in Geelong. Don't miss other inclusions: Projections on City Hall, our carols events, Christmas Trail Map, Christmas augmented reality, and for the kids, Christmas Outdoor Movies.
