The mayor is elected by the councillors to be the key spokesperson for
Council. Invitations involving a media/speech opportunity should be
extended to the mayor.
Where the mayor cannot attend, the mayor will nominate another councillor.
Invitations are best received in writing and should contain as much detail about your event as possible. Please consider a general outline of the function and its purpose including any specific role you are proposing, as well as expected timings (including the start and envisaged finish times) of the event.
If your invitation is for the mayor and his/her partner, please specify.
If your event is ticketed, please consider complimentary passes for the mayor.
The mayor carefully considers every invitation. Please provide minimum 2 weeks notice, and we will respond to your invitation as quickly as possible.
Once your invitation has been accepted you will be sent an event brief. This must be completed and returned at least 7 days prior to the event. Once this has been received we can schedule your event into the mayor’s diary.
Please note the mayor’s diary changes frequently and unfortunately, whilst best efforts will be maintained to facilitate attendance, there is no guarantee of availability.
